i don't want to forget...

wow! it's been a while... i stopped blogging at some point because i felt like i needed to focus on listening rather than "talking". i've found that there are times in my day, life, etc. when it's not about the sound of my own voice or what thoughts or "amazing" insights I have... but rather, what I need to be paying attention to outside of my brain.

but this comeback is not to now attempt what i sought to avoid in the first place. i've decided i need to keep track of this journey i'm on. because even though i naively think i'll remember it all... the truth is, i can't. i won't. and i don't want to forget the faithfulness of the Lord in the very specific occurrences in my life. i'll probably end up with a bunch of posts that are just private, which is fine - and still necessary - every single one of our struggles with sin and flesh are not required to be shared with other people, much less the vast expanse of cyberspace. but i have been taught the importance of sharing my faith journey with my kids... i want them to be able to see and know concrete examples of the Lord's hand in my life and in our family's life. every day He's moving. a lot of the time i'm too self-involved to notice but when i'm being really intentional about it, i see it. AND it's SO COOL. i have no better fitting word in my vocabulary at the present moment. that pretty much sums it up. (besides, i'm still in my twenties... i can still use that phraseology, right? right.)

so here we go again. boy, do i hope and pray that this does not become anything self-glorifying. to GOD ALONE be the glory. Great things HE hath done. so, if you're reading this blog at some point and i start to sound all ... hm... holier-than-thou-i'm-so-great-look-at-me-look-what-i-know-look-how-faithful-i-am-blah-blah-blah... please forgive me. that sin nature runs deep and while my intentions are to do right by God, well, i'm still a sinner and a great big work in progress {emphasis on great big because the Lord and i both know i'm a hot mess}... so as the Apostle Paul said,

So I find it to be a law that when I want to do right, evil lies close at hand. Romans 7:21 ESV

ain't that the truth! just got introduced to that verse during the sermon on Sunday.

this sanctification process is a lifelong, arduous journey. man, it takes a lot of work and sacrifice to surrender to the Savior and live out the Gospel of Jesus Christ every.single.day. and for me, this is like the prelude to the prelude. it's the prequel to the prequel. i feel like i have a long way to go. but praise God He'll be with me all the way. His grace is sufficient. His will is good - perfect and good.

so, if you're reading, thanks. i hope one day i'll read through this again, and my kids too... and maybe even their kids... and we'll all see the greatness of our God. for He is great. and greatly to be praised.

peace&love!
